Hello, Everyone. This is a very special call for artists with a very touchy subject matter. My friend Leanne Kamberg is organizing a group art exhibit/poetry reading in honor of murder victims and their loved ones, as well as survivors of assault, sexual assault, domestic abuse and ANY violent crime.
In addition to artists and writers contributing to the exhibit, Leanne will be asking people whose lives have been touched by violence to share their stories...possibly photos, something they have written or created to deal with their loss. It is very important to Leanne that all the power of this exhibit be given to the victims and their families and none to the murderers. This is NOT about them.
Leanne has titled this exhibit, "Observance," for a number of reasons. This project is very much in its infancy and will most likely be set for the Saturday before Memorial Day.
The night of the reception we will be accepting donations in which proceeds will be donated to an appropriate organization which is yet to be determined. In addition, we are asking that the artists involved in this show also donate all of their proceeds from the exhibit as well. It is for a very good cause and can help so many people.
If you or someone you know is interested in contributing to this project, please contact Leanne at (L.Kamberg@rocketmail.com) or myself at (erin@finderscreepers.com).
You need not have been effected personally by murder or violence to participate in this project. You need only have the heart to give an empathetic voice to someone in pain.
Being a victim of violence multiple times in my life, this is a very emotional yet positive way to deal with the trauma we suffer in our lives. Please help support this cause!
Sincerely,
Erin
