Monster Birthday Party

Over the weekend, Kimb Kreatures and Finder's Creepers hosted our first Make & Take Monster Birthday Party! Take a look at the pics! Everyone had so much fun! All the kids got to make their own monster doll and customized it themselves by adding clothing, eyeballs, mohawks and more!

Kimb Kreatures also made a really sweet spider themed "blood-clot" cake. It was a yummy red velvet layer cake with lots of cherries and blood red frosting.  When you cut the cake the insides oozed to make for a deliciously disgusting treat!

Skeletales

For those of you who haven’t come to see the Skeletales show, this is the last weekend that it will be up!

The show was amazing and the artist behind the installation, Andy Imm did a wonderful performance at the show. We were honored that Noreen Gosch grace us with her presence for the reception. (For those of you not in the know - Noreen is the mother of Johnny Gosch who was abducted in 1982 and who’s story has touched the lives of so many people here in Iowa.)

I recall with great intensity the fear that these abductions struck in the heart of all parents and children alike in the 80’s. Everyone who got to see the performance that night and hear Andy Imm speak, had a rare glimpse into the stark reality that many of the missing people in our country are never found and whose photos are confined to corners of coupon packs or in glass cases at our grocery stores that barely get a second glance. It truly is a sad fact that in this country our local and national news would rather concern itself with which celebrity is in rehab or who got voted out of last night’s reality show than actually tell the stories that NEED to be told.

The reaction to this installation has varied greatly and definitely makes emotions run wild. Andy Imm deserves a huge kudos for making a point to bring this touchy subject matter to the public and make them take notice of all the missing people in our country and mourn for the missing and the families who have suffered such great losses.

Be sure to swing by this Saturday, October 9th for the last glimpse of the Skeletales installation! Don’t forget to write your thoughts on the wall as this exhibit will be taken down permanently on October 13th.

Huge thanks to Noreen Gosch for being part of this exhibit. Please check out her website for more info on Johnny’s case .

Fundraising Success

We managed to exceed our pledge of $1000 by $617! Thanks much to all the kind folks who helped out with baking treats and bringing them down here for such a great cause! Also - wanted to send out a huge thanks to MOLLY for helping out and organizing everything. Without you - I am certain that it would not have been successful.

Our grand total in fundraising is $1,617 - all donated to a great cause. This will be an annual event for us and we thank each and every one of you who helped us surpass our goal!
